About Department

The Faculty of Law, N.A.S (P.G) College, Meerut was established in 1958. At the outset a three year LL.B. programme was introduced. At present there are 180 seats in LLB's three year course (six semester). This undergraduate course is designed to deliver a comprehensive understanding of law to tThe Faculty of Law, N.A.S (P.G) College, Meerut was established in 1958. At the outset a three year LL.B. programme was introduced. At present there are 180 seats in LLB's three year course (six semester). This undergraduate course is designed to deliver a comprehensive understanding of law to the students. By integrating their domain knowledge into the legal profession, the curriculum will aid students in collecting legal information from several disciplines and professions to equip them to fulfill a variety of responsibilities as professionals. Over the past one decade, the Faculty has made significant progress in terms of restructuring of Courses and Syllabi, introducing new courses, experimenting with innovative techniques of imparting legal education and strengthening its clinical programme in order to give due emphasis to the expanding horizons of the legal profession.

The two year LLM course started in 2015 with specialization in Business Law, Torts and Criminal Law and Constitutional and Administrative Law group. In LLB three years course the total strength of the faculty is 07. At present there are 05 Assistant Professors and three of them have Doctorate Degrees in various specializations of Law and are guiding many research scholars in different fields of Law. Many of our former students are working as Principals, Professors, Associate/Assistant Professors, Judicial Officers, Law Officers, Practicing Lawyers
in Supreme Court, High Court and District Courts all over the country.

The Faculty of Law has established a Legal Services Clinic with a whole range of legal aid programmes in the agenda. In fact, the students of our faculty have undergone training for Para-Legal Volunteers under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority. The students have also been participating in Moot Courts, Client Counseling and other literacy and debating activities and have won several laurels. The students took part in sports competitions and other extracurricular activities, adding to their personality development. They are provided with all the necessary facilities to develop their curricular and co-curricular abilities, besides focusing on an overall personality development so as to face the challenges in the competitive world today.

The innovative practices in the faculty include lectures by eminent speakers, Moot Courts within the classrooms, Practical Training Programme (Legal Internship), and Legal Literacy and Mass Awareness Programme in the remote areas of Meerut District.

The students of the Faculty have been regularly associating with Lawyers, Law Firms, Corporate and NGOs during the winter and summer vacations.

Various Seminars and Lectures are to be organized on various days and occasions of National & International importance which include United Nations day (24th October), Human Right Day (10 December), Constitution day (26th November), Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October), Dr B R Ambedkar Jayanti (14 April), Legal Literacy day (9th November).
