About Department

Welcome to Department of English

The department not only provides research opportunities but also inculcates through new approach to literature, ancient literature especially Mythology, Modern, Post Modern and Cultural Studies along with Literary Theory and History of English Literature. Department offers assignment and project based learning that helps the students to build strong foundation for literary review and language competence.
Department of English NAS College is well equipped with qualified and trained faculty members who have the expertise in their respective disciplines.

Vision of English department is to develop it as a centre for academic excellence that nurtures literary sensibilities through research and teaching in which critical thinking and language competence enable students and researchers to actualise their future role.

Our mission is to impart advanced career oriented education of which research programmes and professional knowledge with the prospects of employability and life skills (adoptability) is on high concern.
Through our diverse range of courses, research opportunities and extra-curricular activities we strive to empower students to become skilled readers, writers and thinkers who can engage with and contributes to the global communities.

Second Class Bachelor's Degree (including concerned subject) with 55% marks and Second Division in the Intermediate Examination or 50% marks in each of the Bachelor's Degree and Intermediate Examination separately.

Ph.D.

About Programme

Under the Ph.D. Program the scholars of the department have undertaken research projects on Comparative Literature, English, American Literature, Indian Writing in English and Canadian Literature dissertation.
